Edouard, a nature lover and passionate hunter, observed over the years that the game shot at the end of the hunting day often remained unused or forgotten in the depths of our freezers. He asked himself the critical question of how this significant waste could be avoided.

At the same time, Vianney, whose heart beats for gastronomy, questioned why game meat was only present in traditional, long-prepared braised dishes that were only enjoyed in the winter months. He looked for ways to make this exquisite meat available to a wider public and to simplify its preparation.

This consideration gave rise to the idea of collecting unused game directly from hunters and transforming it into easy-to-eat dishes in order to appeal to a wider range of users.

The result of these considerations are the first Nemrod terrines, which are made from game from extensive French forests and could be tasted just a few months later.

Nemrod is based in Fréland, an idyllic village in the Kaysersberg Valley, near Colmar. The workshop and associated shop are located in the heart of the Vosges forests, giving the company direct access to its primary resource.
The production facility in Fréland specializes in the processing of large game and only accepts wild animals that have been sustainably hunted in the Vosges.

The workshop quickly made a name for itself among numerous retailers and restaurateurs in Alsace. After five years of successful operation, Edouard and Vianney took over the helm under the leadership of Christophe. Nemrod now sets itself the ambitious goal of continuing its fight against waste and modernizing the image of game meat in France.

useful information

details

"Nemrod" is a name that appears in various cultures and contexts, but it is most commonly associated with Nimrod, a biblical figure. According to the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament, Nimrod was a mighty king and a great hunter before the Lord. He is considered the founder and ruler of several ancient cities, including Babel (Babylon), Erech (Uruk), Akkad and perhaps Kalne in Shinar (Mesopotamia). In Jewish and Christian tradition, Nimrod is often viewed as a symbol of pride, rebellion, and tyranny, due in part to Babylon's role in biblical history.

Over time, the name Nimrod (or Nemrod in some translations and cultures) has undergone various cultural interpretations. In medieval literature and later legends, Nimrod is sometimes depicted as a prototype of a rebellious person who rebelled against God, or as a powerful hunter. In some modern languages, the name has even become a colloquial expression, the meaning of which varies depending on the context.

When the name "Nemrod" is used in connection with the company that produces game terrines, it likely alludes to Nimrod's skills and history as a legendary hunter. This can be a metaphor for the company's pursuit of harvesting and processing high-quality wild products in a sustainable and responsible manner.
