The frigate mackerel belongs to the tuna family, like the bonito, and is also called "false bonito".

A powerhouse with an intense and pleasant taste and a compact and delicate texture in a single tapa.

It can reach a length of 50 cm and a weight of 1.5 kg. If it does not reach 600 g, it is called a "canutera".

The fillets of the frigate mackerel "Canutera" have a light pink color and a delicate flavor. They look like small canutillos (stalks), which is why they are called Melva Canutera.

Manual peeling guarantees its natural taste. The olive oil used as a covering liquid provides the oleic acid. The combination of the two results in a food that is extremely beneficial to health.

Fishing method: Almadrabeta

The Almadrabeta (the small Almadraba), with a system very similar to that of tuna fishing, selectively catches the fish that go to the designated area, thanks to the spread nets that lead the fish to the boats.

Almadraba is both a fishing facility and a traditional way of tuna fishing in Spain. The Arabic word مضربة / maḍraba originally means "place where is struck". Fishing techniques have changed little over the past thousand years. For this, the fishermen use gillnets, which are attached to the bottom of the sea with anchors and act as a fish fence. Season for the almadraba is spring, especially the months of April and May.

Delivery times

Unless a different deadline is specified in the respective offer, the goods will be delivered domestically (Germany) within 5 to 7 working days.
