The 2020 Alicante Bouschet marks a historic milestone as the first bottling of this grape variety at Adega Monte Branco. This signature grape of the region presents itself as a balanced and precise example of its kind, with a well-controlled alcohol content of 14.2% and remarkably powerful expression .
The wine displays good fruit without ever becoming overpowering – an elegant balance between power and finesse. Currently somewhat closed , it promises to reveal its true greatness with time.
Vinification & Maturation
100% Alicante Bouschet – the characteristic grape variety of the Alentejo with its intense color and structuring properties.
The wine was vinified with 12 months of aging in 50% new French oak , which gives the wine additional complexity and structure without masking its varietal characteristics.
Storage potential & recommendation
Storage potential: At least one year of cellar aging is recommended for optimal development. The wine shows promising potential for further improvement and good aging potential .
Drinking recommendation: Although still young and closed, everything points to positive development . Patience will be rewarded with a more complex, rounded flavor profile.
